Nurturing our Faith through Community Involvement and Commitment

 

PASTORAL COUNCIL

The members advise on pastoral matters regarding Sydney Harbour
North parish policy. The Council meets regularly to plan and
discuss medium and longer term projects whilst maintaining a brief
on current issues.

FINANCE COMMITTEE
This group have the responsibility of recommending and overseeing
financial commitments within the parishes.

PASTORAL CARE
Our Team leader, Sr Kathleen Clifford and a team of volunteers
assist parishioners in need. Volunteers shop and drive the elderly/
frail to doctors' appointments, as well as carrying out home visits to
the elderly/bereaved or anyone in need.

CATECHISTS
Provide Religious education and Christian foundation for Catholic
children in Government schools. A half hour each week is
spent in the classroom with groups of children in Government
schools in the parishes of Sydney Harbour North.

ACOLYTES
A team of ministers assist the priests during the celebration of
the Mass and other ceremonies and sacraments.

ALTAR SERVERS
Students, boys and girls from Year 5 onwards are welcome as
altar servers. Special training sessions are offered regularly.

COMMUNION MINISTERS
Communion Ministers assist at Mass in the giving of Communion.
They will also visit local homes, nursing homes and hospitals
taking communion to those who cannot attend Mass.

MINISTERS OF THE WORD (READERS)
A rostered group bring the Liturgy of the Word to parishioners at
Mass in all four parishes.

MINISTERS OF WELCOME
Parishioners are met at the doors of the churches as they arrive
at weekend Masses by a rostered team of ‘Welcomers',

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION (RCIA)
This group sponsor candidates, lead discussions and organise
and support the process of those being received into the Catholic
Church.

ADULT CHOIR & MUSIC
Each parish has it's own choir with regular practices and rehearsals
prior to major feasts. No auditions are necessary.

SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION PROGRAMMES
Baptismal preparation is conducted in the parish once per month
and marriage preparation as required. Preparation for First Reconciliation,
First Communion and Confirmation is run by parish
teams working with the Sacramental Coordinator.

ANGELS
This network consists of volunteers who cook meals once every 2
months. These meals are then distributed within the school and
parish communities to those in need.

ST VINCENT DE PAUL
The Mission of the St Vincent de Paul is to deepen the Catholic faith
of its members and through administering to those poor or less fortunate,
share with others Christ's word and love ... more here

CATENIANS
Catholic business and professional men. Brief meeting and dinner.
Great friendship. Regular guest speakers. Meet 2nd Thursday each
month at Mosman Community Centre.

INTER CHURCH COUNCIL MEMBERSHIP
The Mosman, Neutral Bay ICC organises activities that provide an
opportunity for members with an interest in Christian unity to gather
in fellowship.

CATHOLIC WOMEN'S LEAGUE
Promotes the advancement of women globally and to protect the
interests of women and children, especially in the Developing World.
New members always welcome.

LEGION OF MARY
The Legion of Mary is devoted to Mary Immaculate. They visit the ill
in local hospitals, nursing homes and make home visits to the sick
and lonely ... more here

ELIZABETH GROUP
This group supports women and their families during their childbearing
years. This is done in the form of a phone call after the baby is
born and the delivery of a small baby gift as a token from the parish.

LENTEN AND ADVENT GROUPS
Come together during the weeks of Lent or Advent each year,
meeting in small groups to reflects on the Gospels, using the
programmes provided by the Archdiocese.

ADORATION AND PRAYER GROUP
Adoration and Prayer group meet on a weekly basis at the exposition
of the Blessed Sacrament at the Mosman, Neutral Bay and
Clifton Gardens Churches. Spend time with God in his house.

ALTAR SOCIETY
A group of lay people who are responsible for maintaining a sense
of pride in the beautiful churches within the parishes of Sydney
Harbour North. Members are rostered.

LITURGY COMMITTEE
A planning committee for the various liturgies in the Church calendar.

CHILDREN'S LITURGY
Blessed Sacrament hold Children's Liturgy sessions from the
parish room below the church during the 10.00am Mass and last
15-20 minutes. Run on a rostered basis.

FAMILY MASS
Sacred Heart have a 9.00am family Mass with the liturgy catering for
families with young children. All children take part in various aspects
including musical participation at the end of Mass.

HOSPITALITY (1ST Friday)
A group that provides hospitality support and service for Seniors.
Mass (Anointing Mass) on1st Friday of Month

SOCIAL COMMITTEE
A committee set up to plan and organise social functions in the Parishes
of Sydney Harbour North.

YOUTH
A group of young people in our parish who come together in the
capacity of social activities, social justice and liturgical activities and
discussion. The activities are broken into two groups Yr 7-10 students
and Young Adults.

YOUNG ADULT BAND
Vibrant, contemporary and engaging music ministry, making accessible
the richness of liturgy and tradition to this generation.
